LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement companies are consistently among the best in the Chicagoland area. This year’s company has produced a Lemont-centric cookbook featuring recipes shared by the Lemont community. A limited number of cookbooks are now available for preorder, just in time for the holiday season, according to the school.

“What’s Cooking in Lemont?” features recipes from several cultures that flourish in Lemont. The Junior Achievement Board has made cookbooks available for purchase at its product website. Cookbooks are $15 during the preorder stage, which runs through Dec. 13. The first 100 pre-orders will include a free Village of Lemont tote bag.

LHS said cookbooks may be purchased online, from a Junior Achievement representative, or from Junior Achievement faculty advisor John Aspel. Items may be picked up on campus from 3-6 p.m. on Dec. 13-14. No items will be mailed.

Lemont’s Junior Achievement organization annually builds a business from scratch, according to the school. A student-led board creates a product, sells stock in the company and markets the product, with a goal of reaping dividends for its shareholders. This year’s Junior Achievement Board includes seniors Martynas Juskelis (President), Nafisa Ali (Vice President of Customer Service and Sales), Nicolette Giatras (Vice President of Marketing) and Alex Mucha (Vice President of Supply Chain), and junior Matt Krueger (Vice President of Finance).

Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement entries have earned several Chicagoland “Company of the Year” accolades, most recently in 2015 when “Days and Decades” – a calendar celebrating the school’s 125th Anniversary – took home top honors.
