LHS Senior Becomes Second Class Of 2018 Student To Achieve Perfect ACT Score

LEMONT, IL — For the first time in school history, two Lemont High School students from the same graduating class have scored a 36 on the ACT exam. Senior Natalie Hartl became the most recent to achieve the feat, doing so on the most recent testing date in September. Hartl’s classmate, Anna Ford, scored a 36 on the June administration of the ACT. LHS said Hartl is just the fifth student in school history to record a 36 on the ACT.

According to LHS, Hartl has been one of the most high-performing students in Lemont’s Class of 2018 since first walking through the school’s doors as an eighth grader. She was among a handful of students from her class to take an accelerated math class while she was still a student at Old Quarry Middle School. Hartl has posted a weighted grade point average of better than 4.4, consistently challenging herself with rigorous courses while also being deeply involved in the school’s extra-curricular program.

LHS said Hartl is a four-year member of the school’s Marching Band, and is serving as the percussion section leader this year. She has competed on the school’s Mathletes squad, helping Lemont to a South Suburban Conference-Blue Division championship last season. Hartl also plays in the school’s Honors Jazz Band and has been a member of the Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA), Foreign Language Club and Art Club.

According to the release, Hartl has been inducted into the school’s chapters of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society. She recently was named as both a National Merit Commended Student and an AP Scholar with Honor. She has completed four Advanced Placement classes already in her career and is enrolled in four more AP classes, along with a college-level math class, as a senior.

Besides Ford and Hartl, the only other Lemont students to earn a 36 on an ACT exam were Marjorie Dallmann ‘12, Taylor Campos ‘16 and Sarah Hagen ‘17.
