LHS Senior Named Queen Of St. Patrick's Day Parade

LHS senior Evelyn "Evie" Conway has been selected to be the village's Queen of the 2018 St. Patrick's Day Parade.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior Evelyn "Evie" Conway has been selected by the nominating committee to be the village's Queen of the 2018 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will be held Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. in downtown Lemont.

According to the village, Conway is a life-long resident of Lemont, a member of the LHS National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) member, is on the cross country team and softball team in which she was voted Most Valuable Player in last year’s spring season on the varsity team. Conway was also on the All-Conference team, All-Area Second team, and made state honorable mention for softball.

The village said Conway has a strong sense of community, and is currently the student leader for Food Fight at LHS. The school packed over 65,000 meals during last year’s event and Conway is already working to exceed that amount for this year’s event. She also participates in many Hope and Friendship Foundation service events in the community and at her church. Her college plans include studying either Biology or
Biochemistry, focusing on pre-medicine.

Coming from a strong Irish heritage, Conway’s paternal grandparents are from County Kerry in Ireland. Her
grandfather, Thomas Conway, is from Lixnaw and her grandmother, Margaret Conway, nee Slattery, is
from Tralee. Evie is one of Tom and Ann Conway’s three daughters.
