LHS Senior Wins VFW 19th District Essay Contest

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior Andrew Kula has been named the winner of the VFW 19th District Illinois "Voice of Democracy" essay contest, the high school shared.

Andrew's essay, written about the theme "Why is the veteran important?" was chosen as the best among 13 entries at the district level, according to LHS.

This is the first time a Lemont High School student has won at the district level, the school said.

Andrew will move on to the state competition, which will be held in February in Springfield.
