LHS Set To Host College Boot Camp For Class Of 2020
Sessions will provide information about college essays, FAFSA, scholarships and more.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s Student Services Department has prepared a series of events that will have members of the Class of 2020 focused on their futures. The school said it will host “College Boot Camp” from Wednesday, May 29, through Friday, May 31, with each day featuring different sessions.
“Applying to College 101” will run from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29. The session will be led by Jillian Diaz, the Assistant Director of Admissions (Midwest Region) for the University of Colorado-Boulder.
“COD 3+1 Programs” will run from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30. The session will be led by Justin Hardee, Transfer Coordinator for the College of DuPage.

“How To Pay For College: FAFSA & Scholarships” will run from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, May 31, and will feature a representative from Northern Illinois University’s Financial Aid Office.
Back by popular demand, the school also will host a College Essay Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on May 31. The school said this workshop will feature Mike Melinder (Senior Regional Admissions Counselor, University of Iowa) and Megan O’Rourke (Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment, Marquette University).

Students who are attending any of the sessions should enter the building through the “Archway” entrance off of Porter Street.
