LHS Soccer Coach Rick Prangen Earns IHSSCA Hall Of Fame Induction
Over a combined 65 seasons on the sidelines, Prangen compiled a 924-456-102 record over 1,482 matches for a .658 winning percentage.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School boys’ and girls’ soccer coach Rick Prangen has earned induction to the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the high school shared in a news release. He was honored at a ceremony in Aurora on June 8.
The first class of IHSSCA inductees was honored by the organization in 1988. Prangen and Chatham Glenwood’s Jay Lipe were recognized as the first IHSSCA Hall of Fame inductees since 2019, the school said.
"Prangen recently wrapped a coaching career that is unlikely to be replicated," the school shared in a news release.

Over a combined 65 seasons on the sidelines, Prangen compiled a 924-456-102 record over 1,482 matches for a .658 winning percentage. His teams totaled 36 conference championships, 36 IHSA Regional titles, 16 IHSA Sectional crowns, nine state finals appearances, and eight state trophies. Prangen guided Lemont to 47 winning seasons and 14 20-win campaigns, ranks among the top ten on both the IHSA boys’ and girls’ wins lists, and is one of two Illinois coaches to reach the 400-win mark in both sports.
Prangen capped off a 34-year run as Lemont’s boys’ soccer coach in Fall 2025. He posted a 436-261-74 record (.613), which included four seasons with 20 or more wins. Prangen guided Lemont to 14 conference championships, 15 IHSA Regional crowns, seven IHSA Sectional titles, and two IHSA State Finals berths (2007, 2024), according to LHS. He was named the 2024-25 National Federation of State High School Associations Illinois Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year after leading Lemont to its first state trophy – a fourth-place finish at the 2024 IHSA Class 2A State Finals.

The Spring 2026 season marked the end of Prangen’s 31-year career as Lemont’s girls’ soccer coach (excluding the cancelled 2020 season), and he finished with a career record of 488-195-28 (.706) and ten 20-win campaigns, LHS said. He led Lemont to 22 conference championships – including an active streak of 21 straight titles – as well as 21 IHSA Regional crowns, nine IHSA Sectional titles, and seven IHSA State Finals berths (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2026).
According to LHS, no IHSA Class 2A girls’ soccer program has won more state trophies since 2009 than Lemont’s seven (one state runner-up, two third-place, four fourth-place).
Prangen was also inducted into the Lemont High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.
