LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School sophomore Trevor Anifer not only made his state finals debut this past weekend, but made history by earning the program's first boys' bowling state medal, according to a release from LHS.

Anifer placed 10th individually at the 2022 IHSA Boys' Bowling State Finals, which were held at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon on. Jan. 28-29.

Anifer not only is the first bowler in program history to advance to the second day of competition, but he also is the first to earn a state medal, the school said. He is the first Lemont boys’ bowler to compete in state finals competition since 2011, and joins his sister and mother as members of his family to compete in the IHSA Bowling State Finals.

Anifer saved his best for last, posting a 701 series (277-223-201) in the afternoon on the second day.

Anifer advanced to the IHSA Boys’ Bowling State Finals after placing fourth individually at the IHSA Sandburg Sectional on Jan. 22. Anifer may be the first state medalist in program history, but he’s not the first member of his family to achieve that feat, the school said in a release. His mother, Linda (Kacinskas) Anifer ‘91, made three IHSA state finals appearances and placed seventh individually at the 1990 IHSA State Finals. His sister, Kendra Anifer ‘19, placed 39th at the 2019 IHSA State Finals.
