LHS Student Finishes In Top 10 At FBLA National Conference
For the second straight year, Lemont High School senior Alex Paulius posted a top ten finish at the FBLA National Leadership Conference.

LEMONT, IL — For the second straight year, Lemont High School senior Alex Paulius posted a top ten finish at the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference, which was contested over the summer in Anaheim, California. LHS said eight Lemont students competed across seven categories at the 2017 FBLA National Leadership Conference. Lemont’s FBLA chapter has seen students finish among the nation’s top ten for three straight years.
According to LHS, Paulius placed fourth in the nation in the Securities and Investments category, and was the state’s top finisher in that competition. He joins Spenser Bailey ‘16 as the only Lemont student to record two top ten national finishes; he previously was seventh in Personal Finance at the 2016 FBLA National Conference.
Last spring, Paulius joined a select group of Lemont students to win multiple FBLA state crowns, according to a release. He finished first in Securities and Investments after winning the title in Personal Finance in 2015.

According to the school, Lemont’s national conference contingent also included Martynas Juskelis (Networking Concepts) and fellow seniors Reece Graham (Insurance & Risk Management) and Saher Rashid and Julie Stanwyck (Social Media); and juniors Kirsten Kash (Sales Presentation), Anna Mietus (Intro to Business Presentation) and Elizabeth Piercy (Public Speaking II).
Lemont’s national conference representatives advanced to the FBLA National Leadership Conference after placing among the top three in their respective categories at the 2017 FBLA State Leadership Conference, according to a release. Lemont won multiple state titles for the fifth time in eight years. Graham, Juskelis and Mietus all joined Paulius as state champions in their respective categories last spring. Kash and the tandem of Rashid and Stanwyck posted runner-up finishes, while Piercy placed third.
