Light Snow To Impact Evening Commute In Illinois
Snow is expected to start mid-afternoon and continue through early evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement regarding snow this afternoon that will impact many of the Chicago suburbs. According to the statement, light snow will develop during the early to mid-afternoon hours and continue through early evening. The snow is not expected to be very heavy, however cold conditions will result in any snow that falls immediately sticking on untreated roads. The special weather statement includes the cities of Rockford, Waukegan, DeKalb, Aurora, Wheaton, Chicago, Oswego, Morris and Joliet.
According to the NWS, the light snow is expected to impact afternoon commute times and those planning travel this afternoon should be prepared to encounter slippery roads and leave extra time to reach intended destination.

According to the NWS, the snow should start between 2 and 4 p.m. The snow is forecast to return on Friday, and heavier rates of snow are expected. Some suburbs will see up to 2 to 4 inches on Friday.
