Light Snow Possible, Dry Start To 2020: IL Weather

ILLINOIS — We may see some snowflakes in the last few days of 2019, but it will only be a light accumulation. The National Weather Service said there is a chance of snow showers with gusty winds possible Monday, but the better chance for accumulation is Monday night, especially for areas north of I-80.

Snow could affect the Tuesday morning commute, but it should be ending by that time. Tuesday looks to be cloudy with a high of 34 degrees, but it will be windy with gusts up to 30 mph.

The first day of 2020 looks to be sunny and dry with a high of 38 degrees Wednesday, according to the weather service. Thursday will be slightly warmer with a high of 46, but there is a chance of rain.

It could also rain Friday, and the high for the day is 44.

MONDAY: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9 a.m., then a slight chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 32 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

MONDAY NIGHT: Snow. Low around 28. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

TUESDAY: A 30 percent chance of snow before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 38.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.

THURSDAY: A slight chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 46.

THURSDAY NIGHT: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 35.

FRIDAY: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.
