Light Snow, Possible Record Cold For Veterans Day In IL

Rain will transition to snow for parts of the Chicago area Wednesday night, though accumulation should be under an inch.

ILLINOIS — Despite it still being fall, it feels an awful lot like winter in Illinois. Light snow is expected Wednesday night and record cold temperatures are possible next week, the National Weather Service said.

Rain will transition to snow for parts of the Chicago area Wednesday night. Some towns could see minor snow accumulation under one inch, the weather service said. The north suburbs can expect snow between 6 and 11 p.m. Wednesday, while the west and south suburbs can expect snow from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

There will also be increasing winds Wednesday night which will cause building waves on Lake Michigan shorelines. A lakeshore flood advisory is in effect through Friday morning and flooding and beach erosion is expected, according to the weather service.
