Lockdown Lifted at D113A Schools
All's clear after a loud sound startled staff late Thursday morning.

A lockdown of District 113A schools was lifted Thursday afternoon, following a police search of River Valley and Oakwood schools.
A loud sound heard near River Valley around 11:30 a.m. alarmed staff and sent all district schools into lockdown. Just before 1 p.m., police completed searches of all campuses and recommended the lockdown be lifted.
“We are happy to report that there was never any danger to our schools; however, we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel in a notice to parents.
