Mayor Announces Pick for Lemont's St. Patrick's Day Queen

The countdown to St. Patrick’s Day is down to just more than three weeks, but even fewer until Jennifer Lorenz will lead Lemont’s 23rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 7.

Lorenz has been named 2015 St. Patrick’s Day Queen.

A current student at Lemont High School, Jennifer has been involved in numerous volunteer activities for the past several years.

“Her many nomination submissions portray her exceptional caring character with a strong commitment to the community,” Mayor Brian Reaves wrote in his announcement.

During her time in Girl Scouts, Lorenz has achieved numerous badges and medals, including the highest Religious Medal of Distinction, “The Marian Medal” and also “The Spirit Alive,” and she continues to mentor young scouts. She is very involved at St. Patrick Parish, is an Irish Dancer, member of the LHS Varsity Golf Team, and a member of the Sign Language Club, Human Rights Club and Drama Club in which she was director of the school’s winter play.

“Besides being described as a mentor, caring leader, dependable and respectful, what stands out in every realm is her willingness to help out whenever needed,” Reaves said.

“Jennifer will never forget her strong moral commitment to use her talents and strengths to always give back to others,” one supporter wrote in a nomination. “Giving back is ultimately what every community dreams for their citizens. Jennifer will make a beautiful Queen and proudly represent all that is good in our young citizens of Lemont. Young children will wave as she passes, question who she is and want to be just like her when they grow up. Children live what they learn and Jennifer’s lesson is one of empathy for social justice and commitment to faith, education and community.”

The parade will take place March 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. in downtown Lemont.
