Meet the Candidate for Lemont Mayor: John Egofske
John Egofske, a candidate for Lemont village president, shares his plan for the village.

LEMONT, IL- John Egofske, a candidate for Lemont village president, recently shared his background and his plan to bring businesses back to Lemont.
Egofske earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Benedictine University. He is a registered Certified Public Accountant. He is a retired business executive, and most recently worked as the CFO of ATI Physical Therapy from 2009 to 2016.
Egofske said he believes the most obvious and pressing issue in Lemont is the negative business development. He has developed a business plan that consists of, among several items, village hall officials partnering with the business community, rehiring the vacant economic planning position, reviewing opportunities for new business grants or tax incentives, increasing overall village signage and public relations, prioritizing current TIFs and evaluating future TIF opportunities based on ROI.

Egofske believes his experience as a businessman will bring the village a new perspective.
"I have 26 years of professional experience with a successful track record of starting and growing new businesses and stores. I have served at the highest level as a senior executive with decades of professional experience of successful strategic decision making," he said.

Other issues that define Egofske's platform include transparent communication, legal lawsuits and land annexation.
On land annexation, he said, "Over the past few years, we have lost over 1,800 acres of real estate including popular landmark golf courses and recreation areas."
He added that these significant issues have changed the physical landscape of the village and threatens Lemont's future success.
Egofske would like to decrease overall village debt if he is elected and "provide excellent service with exceptional customer service."
He would also like to continue to defend the Lemont annexation law suits and settle all outstanding legal claims, as well as solidify relationship with bordering neighbors, address missing boundary agreements and work with landowners to a win-win compromise.
Egofske decided to run for village president in order to give back to "the greatest town to raise a family."
"I am a Certified Public Accountant that has been entrusted to ensure billion dollars worth of company assets. I have been very fortunate in my profession and now more than ever as a family we want to be as generous as possible with our resources and time," he said.
Egofske added that he has not and will not accept any campaign donations, and would not accept a salary or reimbursement if elected.
"I am not a politician and I have no further political aspirations except for solving the challenges we are facing as a village," he said. "I have a track record with successful businesses and as the leader of Lemont we will achieve and maintain success as a village."
Egofske's wife Louise, is the executive director of Lemont Park District. He has one daughter, Ryan, who is in seventh grade.
