"Lemont’s rich history is something that I always admired about our town, everywhere you turn there’s a place to be seen and a story to be told," she said. "I believe this is a big part of our charm and something that needs to be preserved, honored and shared."

Sarpalius believes the most pressing issue facing the board is "retaining a balanced budget without raising rates or making major cuts that would affect our village's projects and improvements."

Other issues that define her campaign platform include: improving communications between the board and residents; concentrating on attracting new and unique businesses; and preserving, promoting and utilizing Lemont's distinctive qualities.

"I think the current board has made many strides forward because of the new faces that were elected," Sarpalius said. "I think this shows that it was time for a change and believe it has been needed for quite a while. There are still some areas that need improvement and I come with new ideas and fresh eyes that see the limitless potential the village of Lemont has. I also believe having a family with two young children also keeps me attuned to the wants and needs of the other families in town."
