Mosquito Spraying In Lemont

Mosquito spraying will take place after 10 p.m. Friday night.

LEMONT, IL — Mosquito spraying will take place in the village of Lemont after 10 p.m. Friday night. Patch previously reported that the first human case of West Nile Virus in Illinois was reported.

The case occurred in Crete, and the 67-year-old man was diagnosed in late June. In Illinois, monitoring for West Nile includes lab tests for mosquito batches, dead crows, blue jays, robins and other perching birds, as well as testing humans with West Nile virus-like symptoms. Anyone who spots a sick or dying bird should contact their local health department, officials said.

Community-wide mosquito spraying helps to curb mosquito growth and possible chances of West Nile Virus.
