Mothers Day is not always a day of celebration
Hope and Friendship Foundation founder Terri O'Neill-Borders shares words of understanding for those who may not be happy to welcome today

For some it is a day of celebration.
A day when those whom you
birthed come forward and pay respects with time and love offered being
present with you thanking you for the investment of heart, effort,
sweat, toil and tears that you have labored forward hoping they will be
who they were put on this earth to be.
You are quantifiable and desirably celebrated and remembered. God bless you and those celebratory moments!
However, for some it is a day of pain....loss, memories of
past, tears of separation, ache of a relationship that is not what you
had hoped, having suffered through a pain that no mother should ever
experience of burying their child, or those who have moved through many
attempts at hoping to have and never being blessed with that gift of
motherhood.
For some it is a day that you walk through being moved
to tears. The hurt stings, the expectations fall short, the happiness
of those around you makes you shrink further into any indoor area that
will save you from being reminded of what could have been and what is
not.
Whether you sit at this moment having been celebrated and fully
appreciated and loved, or today have had that scab ripped open and
felt the ache of loss, separation, and pain please know that you are so
very deeply and fully loved. Know that who you are is a child of God.
You have been beautifully and wholly made and He has a love for you that
surpasses all pain, all loss and even surmounts all earthly celebration
and recognition.
It is a day to remember and honor those who gave
us life, so therefore it is a day to remember that the walk we have
here is just a prefix of the amazing life we will have in the hereafter
where we will see our beloved, feel the love we have not felt, and be
loved beyond what a human can express and offer.
Blessed be those who can hug their mom today.
Blessed be the mom who aches to hug their child.
Blessed be the child who hurts to be hugged by their mother.
Blessed be the heart who wishes to hold a baby of their own.
Blessed to the ones who loves on the children that are not their own but whom they make feel loved like they are.
Blessed it is to love and be loved.
We are to blessed to love and be loved.
Let us remember that this is just one day to express that.
Tomorrow is nothing less than another to do the same.
May we love unconditionally, fully and endlessly those who have loved us and those that need our love.
Happy Mothers Day to you, to yours and to every one of those to whom you have shared your much needed love and compassion.
Our world needs more motherly love <3
Wishing you peace and love,
Terri
