New Lemont Fire Chief Sworn In

LEMONT, IL — Dan Tasso, the new Fire Chief of the Lemont Fire Protection District, was sworn in at the District's board meeting on Thursday.

"We are proud to have Chief Tasso back in his hometown, where he began his service career as a fire cadet," the district said on its Facebook.

Tasso began his career with the fire district in 1987 as a cadet, the fire district has said. He began working as a part-time firefighter and dispatcher in 1990, and was hired as a full-time firefighter/paramedic in 1992.

In 2000, he left Lemont to join the Downers Grove Fire Department, according to the district. During this time, he continued his education and was promoted through the ranks: first to Battalion Chief of Training and Safety in 2012; second to Deputy Chief of Administration in 2017; third to Deputy Chief of Operations in 2021.

Tasso also holds an Associate’s in Business Administration; a Bachelor’s in Management; and a Master’s in Public Safety Administration. He has also completed the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal Chief Fire Officer program.
