New School Resource Officer Joins District 113A

LEMONT, IL — A new face started school this year, as Officer John Lauricella of the Lemont Police Department joined Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A as its new school resource officer.

The district said the Board of Education and the Village of Lemont entered an agreement for a full-time school resource officer for District 113A last spring.

"I am excited for this new experience and am looking forward to getting to know all the
students and staff and having a positive impact on students," Lauricella said in a release.

According to the district, Lauricella is a 10-year veteran of the Lemont Police Department and is a certified juvenile officer and certified school resource officer. School resource officers in Illinois undergo special training in working with young students, the district said.

“We are excited for Officer Lauricella to join us, not only does it add another level of expertise to our safety initiatives. It is also great for the community and our students to be able to make positive connections with law enforcement,” Superintendent Anthony McConnell said.
