Oakwood Announces Student Officers For Community Service Club

EarlyAct has 27 members representing first and second grade classrooms.

LEMONT, IL — Oakwood School has announced its officers for the EarlyAct Community Service Club. The school said this is the third year for the EarlyAct Community Service Club at Oakwood School which is sponsored by the Lemont-Homer Glen Rotary Club.

This school year, the newly elected officers of the EarlyAct Club are Emma Schrimpl, President; Caroline Painter, Vice President; and Annie Woytek, Secretary. EarlyAct has 27 members representing first and second grade classrooms.

Club members who were interested in running for an office prepared campaign speeches or videos stating why they would be effective leaders and club members cast their votes at the last EarlyAct meeting.

Anita Dominic, one of the club sponsors, shared, “Miss Arendt and I were so proud of all the students who chose to run for the officer positions. The quality of the speeches and videos was impressive.”

Oakwood staff members Danielle Arendt and Dominic serve as the club’s school-based sponsors. According to the school, the mission of EarlyAct is to promote goodwill, understanding, and peace through the active participation of its student members. EarlyAct provides young students the opportunity for gaining an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. The club also engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles to identify and carry out projects which benefit their school, local, and global communities.
