Oakwood EarlyAct Club Organizes Collection For Troops
Club members created a modified assembly line to collaboratively prepare and package hot chocolate treats for the troops.
LEMONT, IL — Students in Oakwood's EarlyAct Club were able to take part in a service project called "Snowman Soup." Oakwood School worked in partnership with Operation Care Package, a local organization whose mission is to ensure “no hero is forgotten.”
The school said with donations from families at Oakwood School, club members created a modified assembly line to collaboratively prepare and package hot chocolate treats for the troops. Boxes of the prepared “soup” will be shipped overseas to help provide cups of good cheer to deployed servicemen and women in the military, the school said.
Miss Arendt, one of the club sponsors said in a release, “Our EarlyAct members looked like little elves working hard to make sure the packages would be ready to send in time for the holidays! Thank you to all the families who donated items!"
