Oakwood, River Valley Students Celebrate End Of Year

LEMONT, IL — Oakwood and River Valley students celebrated the end of the school year last week in several different ways. The school said students in first through fifth grade received a visit from members of Lemont Park District’s recreation department to conduct water safety talks during PE classes. Students learned about pool, lake, household water safety and the importance of wearing personal flotation devices when boating or possibly swimming.

The annual field day was also organized by the PE teachers with help from parent volunteers and staff on May 18. The school said students rotated through stations such as tug of war, sack races, and water relays with their classes.

Lastly, the PTO Fun Run also took place on May 18 for both schools. The school said students had the opportunity to collect donations and pledges prior to the day. While the final count is not in, money raised will be used to support the myriad of PTO activities that they offer the schools.
