Oakwood School Celebrates Read Across America Day
Oakwood School celebrated Read Across America Day recently, which is a day to celebrate reading and the birthday of the author.
LEMONT, IL — Oakwood School celebrated Read Across America Day recently, which is a day to celebrate reading and the birthday of the beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. The school said to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day, Oakwood School participated in a variety of literacy activities throughout the week which focused on Dr. Seuss books while promoting a love for reading.
A different Dr. Seuss book was read each day and Oakwood students and staff participated in theme days such as Wacky Wednesday PJ Day and Crazy Socks Day. The school said on March 2 every student who dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character received a raffle ticket. Grade level winners from the drawings received a Dr. Seuss book.
