Oakwood School Hosts First Parent Education Night For Early Childhood Families

LEMONT, IL — The Oakwood Early Childhood Team held its first Parent Education Night on Wednesday, Oct. 11. According to the school, the night was led by Occupational Therapist, Suzy Jacobs, and parents learned more about how to support their children’s fine motor development at home. Several strategies that can be used as part of family’s typical routines utilizing household items were also shared.

The school said Lemont High School students provided childcare during the parent presentation. Afterwards, parents had an opportunity to practice with their children side-by-side in station activities.

The next Parent Education night will be held on March 7, 2018.

A Learning Friends Preschool Open House was also held during the night for parents of three to five-year-old children. The school said it was an opportunity for families to see the rooms, receive information and have questions answered about Oakwood School’s blended preschool program.
