Oakwood School Names October Students Of The Month

Oakwood students were recognized for displaying the school's three R's.

LEMONT, IL — Oakwood School recognized one student from each classroom for his/her outstanding efforts for demonstrating responsible citizenship. Students nominated for the Student of the Month honor demonstrated Oakwood’s 3 R’s, which are to be ready, be responsible, and to be respectful. The school said certificates and lawn signs were awarded to each of the students.

According to the school, Oakwood students recently also had a kick-off assembly for their new “pawsitive” incentive program. After viewing a short slideshow about the program in which students are recognized for appropriate hallway behavior, fifth grade students performed a skit that modeled the expected behaviors of facing forward, keeping hands and feet to themselves, and using walking feet while being quiet.

The school said a paw will be awarded when staff members “catch” classes or students demonstrating the expected behaviors. Paws will be collected at the end of the week. Each paw will increase the chance of a classroom from each grade level in winning a prize such as a dance party, principal reading to the class or an extra recess.
