Oakwood Students 'Stick' with Reading

School's winter reading initiative begins.

—Submitted by Lemont-Bromberek District 113A

To kick off Oakwood’s winter reading incentive, the school’s reading specialists held assemblies to inspire students to read over the coming weeks. During the assemblies, the goal was unveiled to students: stick to reading and you will have an opportunity to stick building principal, Mrs. Slee, to the wall. For every 100 minutes read, students will earn a length of duct tape. At the end of the incentive period in mid-February, students who have earned duct tape pieces will assist in sticking the principal to the wall during lunch. Kids were enthralled by the idea and have already shared with Mrs. Slee their excitement for the culminating activity. Read, Oakwood, Read!
