Oakwood Teacher Honored With Best Of Lemont Award
Gray was honored as the SD113A Educator of the Year, the school said.
LEMONT, IL — SD113A Kindergarten teacher Sue Gray was one of nine "Best of Lemont" honorees at the Lemont Community Awards Luncheon, which was hosted by the Lemont Chamber of Commerce and held at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club on Nov. 15. Gray was honored as the SD113A Educator of the Year, the school said.
A teacher in District 113A for 33 years, the school said Gray has filled students' hearts and minds with a love of learning as they enter the halls of Oakwood School. Over the course of 33 years, Gray has touched the lives of thousands of children and their families. Not only is she a dedicated teacher, but the school said she is a staple in the Lemont community.
Gray has many accomplishments over the course of her career in SD113A including being one of the first pilot classrooms for a 1:1 technology personalized learning initiative. The school said she is a true professional in every sense of the word, and serves on multiple committees while volunteering her time and efforts to do what’s best for the children she serves.

"Sue Gray is an exceptional teacher who embodies everything you would want in a Kindergarten teacher," Oakwood Principal Kelly Zimmerman said. "She is nurturing, kind, enthusiastic about her students and loves learning. She is an asset to Oakwood School and will be sorely missed next year after she retires."
