
Howard Svoboda passed away very suddenly on Saturday, April 14. He was born March 27, 1930, the son of Charles and Lucile Svoboda in Hinsdale. They preceded him in death as well as sisters Virginia and Beverly Maves. Survived by brother Bob (Mary Ellen) and Shirley Wincensen.
Graduate from Hinsdale High School in 1948. Earning a degree from University of Illinois and Elmhurst College. He worked 38 years at Argonne National lab in Environmental Monitoring.
Survived by his loving wife Beverly married for 59 and a half years. Two daughters Becky Greenberg and Stephanie (Dan, deceased) Guziec, six grandchildren Robert and Arriena Guziec, Sarah (Steve) Poladna, Danny, Joshua and Lalah Greenberg. One great grandchild Andrew Poladna.

Svoboda was active in the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout, a long time member of Lemont United Methodist Church and an honorary member of Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 in the 8th Army, 1st. Corp., 623 field Artillery Battalion out of Pusan, South Korea.
Visitation April 18 4 to 8 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois St., Lemont. Funeral services April 19, with a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at the Lemont United Methodist Church, 35 W. Custer St., Lemont. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lemont Methodist Church.
