Irene Estelle Koski (nee Burger), age 83, of Lemont, passed away March 26 in Fort Myers, Florida.
Irene Estelle Koski (nee Burger), age 83, of Lemont, passed away March 26 in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born in 1936 and grew up in Marquette Park. Koski attended Lockport High School.
High school sweetheart Jim attended rival Lemont High School. They were married in 1956 at St.
Alphonsus, where she worked for many years after raising their four sons.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, James; her parents Harry and
Estelle Burger; two grandsons David and Greg Koski; great-grandson Novah; mother-in-law and father-in-law Margaret and Edward Koski; brother-in-law John (Fran) Koski; sister-in-law Marge (Fred) Drafke; and brother-in-law Robert (Loretta) Thayer.

She is survived by sons Tony, Jeff, Jim, and Steve; grandchildren Zachary, Christopher, Timothy, Elise, Garrett, Trista, Keith, Karisa, Kyle, Jennifer, Michelle and Sean; 14 great grandchildren; her sister Loretta Thayer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Koski was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Koski loved caring for her roses and garden, where she and Jim grew vegetables to can and share with friends and neighbors. She loved canning, cooking and baking; you never left their home hungry. They preferred driving over flying and took many road trips around the U.S. in their Cadillac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Irene and Jim on Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 605 State Street, Lemont. In lieu of flowers, donations
can be made to St. Alphonsus church in their memory.
