Old Quarry Achieves Exemplary Rating On Illinois School Report Card
Oakwood, River Valley and Central all earned the second-highest rating of "commendable" on the school report card.
LEMONT, IL — The Illinois State Board of Education released the 2022-2023 school report card on Monday, and District 113A "showed an extraordinary increase in student performance on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness reflecting the hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment of its students, educators and staff," the district said in a release.
In addition, Old Quarry Middle School earned an "exemplary rating" on the school report card. This rating is only given to the top 10 percent of schools in the state, the District said.
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness is an annual assessment given by the state to students in grades 3-8 that assesses students' knowledge and skills in English language arts and mathematics.

District 113A saw an overall 62 percent of students in English Language Arts and 49 percent of students in math that met or exceeded standards on the spring 2023 IAR assessment. In 2019, the last year of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness before the COVID-19 pandemic, 54 percent of students in English Language Arts and 51 percent of students in math met or exceeded standards in District 113A, the District said.
Compared to 2021-22, the District said it saw a 23 percentage point increase in the number of students meeting or exceeding standards in English Language Arts and a 5 percentage point increase in students meeting or exceeding standards in math.

The statewide averages for achievement in 2022-2023 were 35 percent in reading and 27 percent in math.
In science, the District has seen achievement increase from 63 percent of students meeting standards in 2021 to 70 percent of students meeting standards in 2023.
Oakwood, River Valley and Central all earned the second-highest rating of "commendable" on the school report card.
"While no one test or assessment ever tells the whole story of all the great work that
goes on in our schools, we are extremely proud of these results," Superintendent Anthony McConnell said. "This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, educators, and staff. Considering everything that schools have been through over the past few years, I couldn’t be more proud. We are dedicated to building on this success and ensuring we provide an excellent education to every student, every day."
