Old Quarry Announces October Students Of The Month

Six students, two from each grade, have been chosen as students of the month at Old Quarry.

LEMONT, IL —Old Quarry Middle School has chosen six students as October students of the month. Two students from each grade were honored by the school, and one student from each team (red and black) were chosen.

The sixth grade Red Team’s Student of the Month is Krisha Patel. The school said she models the school's core values in her interactions with both students and teachers. She is respectful toward others and always polite and attentive. Patel consistently arrives in class both on time and prepared. She is indeed a positive role model for her classmates and always willing to help out, that is why she has been selected as October’s Student of the Month.

The sixth grade Black Team’s Student of the Month is Courtney Towry. The school said Towry is respectful towards others and always polite and attentive. In addition to being a leader in the classroom, she is certainly a positive role model for her classmates. She always has a smile on her face and greets others with a kind smile. That is why she has been selected as October’s Student of the Month.

The seventh grade Red Team would like to nominate Santiago Garrido as October Student of the Month. The school said Garrido exemplifies what it means to work hard and maintain a positive attitude. He is always willing to share thoughts and participate in group activities.

The seventh grade black team selected Anya Haucke as the October student of the month. The school said Haucke is new to Old Quarry Middle School this year, but in her time here she has already shown leadership and kindness. She uses her time wisely and consistently completes her work with her best effort. Haucke demonstrates Old Quarry Core Values on a daily basis, and we are proud and excited that she has joined our Old Quarry community.

The October student of the month for the eighth grade Red Team is Kuba Mierzwa. The school said following the core values of Kindness, Growth, Community and Justice come naturally to Mierzwa. He comes to class each day ready and excited to participate in the planned learning activities and discussions. He is conscientious in his academic work, and his focus is on understanding the content.

The eighth grade Black Team teachers would like to announce Alyssa Greer as October Student of the Month. The school said Greer is hard-working, motivated and involved. In group work, she has been a leader in keeping her group focused, sharing her thinking and asking great questions to help herself and others understand a problem or task. Greer also remains an active member of the OQMS Jazz Band as well a member of the Drama Club.
