Old Quarry Cheerleaders Win State Championship
The Old Quarry Middle School Cheerleading Squad earned the IESA State Championship on Jan. 20 in Peoria.

LEMONT, IL — The Old Quarry Middle School Cheerleading Squad earned the IESA State Championship on Jan. 20 in Peoria. The school said the team has previously finished in second place in state in 2015, 2016 and 2017. This year, the team became the state champions.
Although the team had a bumpy start to the season, placing fourth in the first competition, they worked hard and placed first in every match after that. Coaches of the team are Laurie Saulys, Daryl Mercer and Claudia DeSantis.
Cheerleaders are Hailey Divis, Eileen Flynn, Fawne Ford, Daleigh Johnson-Pawlak, Lily Kozlowski, Annette Lichacz, Gracie Meloni, McKenzie Maple, Breann Mooney, Kaya Myrda, Abby Nagel, Danielle Scumaci, Kynlie Sedivy, Bella Shadden, Tess Sublette, Kaley Thornton, Molly Tucker, Jade Yabush and Skylar Yabush.
