Old Quarry Jazz Band Takes Home Top Honors

Congratulations are in order for Lemont's very own Old Quarry Middle School Jazz Band, who placed first in their division in competition at the Purdue Jazz Festival, hosted by the Purdue University Bands and Orchestra at the Loeb Playhouse in West Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday, January 22, 2022. The competition included multiple middle schools from both Illinois and Indiana.

The Old Quarry Middle School Jazz Band's featured soloist, Ella Kincaid, also won a scholarship to Blue Fine Arts Camp, a summer school of the arts located on a 1,600-acre campus in Michigan’s Manistee National Forest, for her remarkable performance.

Led by Old Quarry Band Director, Frank Alongi, the Old Quarry Middle School Jazz Band consists of sixth through eighth-grade students and rehearses several times per week.

Lemont residents can see the Old Quarry Jazz Band play in a special performance at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Quarry Pub and Grill in Lemont. All ages are invited to attend.
