Old Quarry Middle School Welcomes New Staff

Check out the new staffers and how they'll be contributing at Old Quarry.

The start of the 2015 school year is just around the corner and Old Quarry Middle School is welcoming some new staff to fill the retirements of Mrs. Holly Petrelli, Social Worker, Mrs. Ardyth Deming, Speech Language Pathologist, Mrs. Karen Franta, Secretary, Mrs. Mary Vladovich, language arts, and Mrs. Lori Norwood, special education teacher.

“We are very excited to welcome our new staff. We have found very qualified individuals to fill these key
roles in our learning community. Their enthusiasm for middle level students and the unique
academic and social and emotional needs that come along with middle level education are
excellent,” said Dr. William Caron, principal.

Kristina Brenner, Sixth and Seventh Grade Science, is a graduate of Illinois StateMrs. Diane Chaps, School Secretary, joins OQMS from Oakwood School where she has been a secretary for the past four yearsMs. Ilyssa Hoffman, School Social Worker, is a University of Chicago graduate with a master’s degree in school social work and also a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University.Ms. Laura Kawczynski, Literature Lab, is a graduate of Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and endorsements in reading, language arts, science, and social studies.Ms. Lindsey Rapinchuk, Speech Language Pathologist, graduated from the University of Illinois with both a bachelor’s degree (Speech and Hearing Science) and a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.Ms. Diana Styrczula is a graduate of Lewis University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in language arts, social studies, and science.

The new staff, along with all of Old Quarry staff, will have a chance to meet parents at the
annual Back to School Night on Monday, August 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
