Old Quarry Runner Leads School To Tenth Place At State

Nick Kania, an eighth grader at Old Quarry, took second place in the 800 meter event.

LEMONT, IL — An Old Quarry Middle School eighth grader recently participated in the state track and field meet. Nick Kania came in second place in the 800-meter run at the state event.

According to a release, Kania ran the 800-meter with a time of 2:05.77, only missing the first place finish by just over three-tenths of a second. Kania also ran 4:50.48 for the 1600-meter run, and placed fourth overall.

Kania led Old Quarry to a tenth place finish out of 67 schools in the Class AA 2017 track and field meet.
