Old Quarry Seventh Graders Visit Springfield

The school said over 230 students traveled to Springfield, and visited the Old State Capitol and several more buildings.

LEMONT, IL — Old Quarry seventh graders visited the state capital on Oct. 20. The school said over 230 students traveled to Springfield, and visited the Old State Capitol, The Capitol Building, Abraham Lincoln's home, Lincoln's Tomb and the Presidential Museum.

According to the school, students learned that robbers once tried to steal Lincoln's body for ransom and that the president may not have have been as popular during his time as he is now remembered. The school said students gained knowledge and hands-on experience to share with their families and friends.
