LEMONT, IL — Students at Old Quarry Middle School recently took part in a disability awareness day during their physical education classes. The Lincoln-Way Special Recreation Association and SEASPAR helped put on the event at the school Jan. 22.

Principal Joe Sweeney, who was the former assistant principal at Crone Middle School in Naperville, brought the event to Old Quarry after seeing it at his former school. Sweeney even brought one of his former students, who is a current seventh grader at Crone, to the Old Quarry event.

During the event, students played basketball in wheelchairs and wore blindfolds to do other activities.
