Old Quarry Students, Staff Break In New Math Textbook Series
Go Math debuted this school year.

Students and teachers at Old Quarry Middle School are working with “Go Math!,” a new math textbook series.
“This new series is kid friendly,” said Principal Dr. William Caron. ”Our students can take all their notes in the book right next to the explanations of problems and practice problems.”
Old Quarry Middle School adopted the Go Math math series from Houghton, Mifflin, Harcourt publishers for grades six, seven, and eight. The series will be used in both the regular and advanced math courses for the next three years.

“We had a committee of teachers and administrators look at several different series of books and overwelmingly Go Math was the series that helps us meet the needs of our students and aligns with the State Standards,” Caron said.
The Go Math Series is packed full of activities that activate the students math knowledge and put that knowledge into practice. Each book is set up by units aligned with the State Standards and then those units are broken down in to learning modules. Each module consists of a series of lessons which introduce and reinforce best math practices and activates prior learning. Along with each lesson are multiple ways students can also use technology such as smart phones or iPads to access QR codes for on the spot tutorial help.
