Pizza Restaurant To Open Early 2018 In Lemont

Wooden Paddle, a restaurant that features wood-fired pizzas, will open in Lemont in early 2018.

LEMONT, IL — An Orland Park business is relocating to Lemont, and is already passionate about their new location. Wooden Paddle, a pizza restaurant, will open in January 2018 at 212 Stephen St. in downtown Lemont. The new owners, the Cowan family, is already remodeling the building built in 1883, and is planning 75 seats for the restaurant.

Co-owner Jonathan said he and his wife were looking online for locations, and set up a showing for the Stephen Street location.

"We thought it was kind of a long shot, but when we saw it in person, we thought it was perfect," Cowan said. "We loved Lemont, and how hilly it is and the cute downtown area."

Cowan said the menu for the restaurant isn't finalized yet, but their signature wood-fired pizzas will remain.

"We will have a lot more cool items that can be experience in a dine-in setting," Cowan said. "We want a 'tapas-feel', we want a lot of sharing going on in our restaurant."

The restaurant also has a popular catering business, Cowan said. The family does many weddings, and plans to hold tastings in the new location.

"The building is beautiful, and we are going to make it beautiful inside, too," Cowan said.
