Planned CORE Courtyard To Honor Memory Of Lemont Teen
The community courtyard will feature a center fountain, seating, enhanced landscaping and personalized pavers.

LEMONT, IL — A community courtyard will be created outside the front entrance of the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex thanks to a charitable personal donation. The park district said Cindy and Larry Rizzo have donated $25,000 to create the courtyard which will honor their son, Danny, who was killed in a car accident in 2017.
According to the park district, the community courtyard will feature a center fountain, seating, enhanced landscaping and personalized pavers. The project will also be funded by the sales of personalized paver bricks that are available for purchase.
In April, the Lemont Park District Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the donation and enter into a partnership with the Danny Rizzo Memorial Scholarship Fund to create the Community Courtyard.

“The District is extremely grateful to accept this generous donation from the Rizzo family to assist in funding the creation of a beautiful Community Courtyard outside The CORE. This special place will be enjoyed by many. Not only will it honor Danny, a beloved employee of the Lemont Park District, it will also give our members and guests an opportunity to be part of this project sharing their special memories,” said Lemont Park District Board President, Brian Pepich. “In the presentation given by the Rizzo family to the Park District Board, it was adamant that this project is truly something for the community to be a part of and enjoy."
Additional funds will be raised for this project at the Danny Rizzo Memorial's second annual “GO THE EXTRA MILE” event. The fundraiser will be held at Gleneagles Country Club on June 9 from 2 to 6 p.m.
