Possible Rainy Weekend Ahead For IL

Rain is possible throughout the weekend, with a chance of severe storms on Sunday for the area.

Although parts of the weekend could be dry, it looks like rain is sticking around the Chicago area. According to the National Weather Service, rain will most likely begin Friday evening and bring temperatures down to about 57 degrees.

During the day Saturday should be dry, and it will be warmer with a high of 74. The chance of rain returns, according to the NWS, late Saturday night after 2 a.m. Thunderstorms are also possible on Saturday night and Sunday.

There is a limited hazard risk for storms on Saturday and Sunday, although Sunday does feature a chance of severe thunderstorms, according to the NWS. Sunday will have a high around 70, and will be coldest near the lake. There is about a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms all day Sunday, which will continue into Monday as well.

The beginning of the work week also features a limited risk of severe weather, with a chance of thunderstorms on both Monday and Tuesday, according to the NWS.

  • SATURDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 74. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the morning.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. West wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast in the evening.
