Construction could begin in the fall.
LEMONT, IL — At a special board meeting on Monday, the Lemont Village Board took the first steps in approving a gas station at Route 83 and Main Street.
The board approved a special use permit, sign variations, and a preliminary plat of subdivision for three lots at the northwest corner of Route 83 and Main for a Gas N Wash.
According to board documents, redevelopment plans call for a fuel center, convenience store, quick service restaurants and a multi-tenant retail center at the intersection.

Village Administrator George Schafer said the next steps will include pre-construction work including permitting activities and review of plans by various regulatory agencies.
"The project will need to come back in front of the Board to approve final plat of subdivision over the next several weeks, then construction can begin in the fall," Schafer said.
