LEMONT, IL — UPDATE: The original meeting which was supposed to be held June 5 has been rescheduled to June 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the village hall boardroom.

A public hearing will be held June 19 about a planned unit development for 24 detached single-family homes in the front of the Covington Knolls subdivision. According to board documents, the 24 homes will sit on 7.7 acres of currently vacant land.

The property was approved as part of the overall Covington Knolls development in 1994. Board documents state that the 7.7 acres of land was zoned commercial with the ability to rezone to residential after a certain time period.

In 2007, the property was rezoned to residential and the 24 homes were approved and the final planned unit development was approved in 2009. According to board documents, due to the housing market over the past decade, development was stalled several times.

The approval from 2009 has now lapsed, and Gallagher and Henry has submitted an application once again to revisit the process to start the development of the 24 homes for the final phase of Covington Knolls, board documents state.
