Rainy Weekend Ahead For Illinois, Temps In The 70s

Thunderstorms and rain are expected to stick around the area Friday night and possibly into Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms are not expected, but some stronger storms could produce winds up to 40 mph across east central Illinois and northwestern Indiana.

The NWS said some moderate to locally heavy rainfall will also be possible with some of these storms.

Rain will most likely continue until Saturday, with a chance of storms. According to the NWS, the high for Saturday is 79 degrees. Sunday also only has a high of 80, and again there is a chance of rain.

FRIDAY: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 77. West southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 67. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

SATURDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 77. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 67. North northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

SUNDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. North northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
