Record-breaking Showing for Lemont Park District Dolphins

The Dolphins finished fourth in their conference championship.

The Lemont Park District Board and Staff would like to congratulate the Lemont Dolphins Swim Team on a huge win, placing 4th, at the South Suburban Swim Conference Gold Division. The Lemont Park District Dolphins are a USA Swimming affiliated club that advanced from South Suburban Swim Conference Blue Division to the Gold in February 2014. On Friday, February 6th, the Lemont Dolphins attended the 2014–15 Conference Championship at Lockport High School. There were a total of 437 athletes ranging between the ages of 6 to 18 participating in the event and 47 of them were Lemont Dolphins.

The Dolphins broke six new individual team records and eight new relay team records. Also, eight new Illinois swimming regional cuts by seven swimmers were achieved at the meet; making the Dolphins swim team total of 21 swimmers in 61 events. The Dolphin event winners include: Dylan Rusco in the 8-year-old and under, 50-meter Free Style; Joseph Modine in the 8 and under, 25-meter Breast Stroke; and Matas Gaidukevicius, Brendan Tor, Dylan Rusco and Joseph Modine in the eight year old and under Boys Medley & Free Relays.

“The team has come a long way in a short five-year timespan. We have worked our way up from the bottom division to be competitive in the top division,” said Head Coach, Erik Enslen. “Our swimmers were motivated to try and break into the top three; we just fell a little short this year. They have some big goals of winning conference next year!” he added.
