The National Weather Service said the record Chicago high temperature was broken at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
ILLINOIS — December is usually known for snowstorms and ice, but that hasn't been the case this year for Illinois. Christmas Day felt more like March, and the warm temperatures Thursday have already broken records.
The National Weather Service said the record Chicago high was broken at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. It was 56 degrees at midnight, while the average high for this time of year is 32 degrees.
Thursday has a high of 66 degrees, and temps will then drop back close to normal Friday with a high around 40. A cold front moving in Thursday evening could mean a quick drop in temperature during the evening commute.
