Rededication Planned July 3 For Danish Cemetery

LEMONT, IL — A rededication ceremony will be held July 3 for the Danish Cemetery, a small cemetery off of 127th Street, which is also known as the burial place of Lemont's unknown soldier.
The cemetery is located off of 127th near the Lemont Park District and Old Quarry Middle School. The last burial at the cemetery took place in 1968.
Earlier this spring, volunteers helped clean up the site, and a rededication is now planned for 3 p.m. on July 3.

Lemont's Unknown Soldier Still A Mystery A Century Later
The event will begin with a gathering at 3 p.m., followed by a dedication and program at 3:15 p.m. Attendees should park in the lot near the tennis courts.

The Lemont Park District's annual Independence Day Extravaganza event then begins at 4 p.m., followed by fireworks later that night.
