Rep. Lipinski Invites Students To Participate In Art Contest

LEMONT, IL — Representative Dan Lipinski is inviting high school students from the 3rd Congressional District to participate in the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. According to a release, the winning piece will be displayed in the Capitol complex in Washington, D.C. for visitors to view for the next year. The runner-up will have their artwork displayed in Rep. Lipinski's Washington office for one year.

The competition is open to all students in grades 9 through 12 who reside in the 3rd Congressional District. A release states entries must be received at Rep. Lipinski’s district offices in Chicago at 6245 S. Archer Ave.; Oak Lawn at 5210 W. 95th St.; Orland Park at 14700 Ravinia Ave.; and Lockport at 222. E. Ninth St., Suite 109.

Artwork, which also includes photography and computer-generated art, must be received no later than April 9.

“Every year when reviewing entries for the Congressional Art Competition, I am amazed by the talent and imagination of the students in our district,” Lipinski said in a release. “I encourage all students, parents and teachers to urge young artists to share their artwork for the 2020 competition. I am excited to see what our next generation of artists comes up with this year.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Last year, Hanna Dworkin of Lemont was chosen as the winner from the 3rd Congressional District.
