Scholarship Fund Created To Honor LHS Graduate Killed In 2017

The goal of the fund is to award two LHS graduation seniors with $1,000 scholarships.

LEMONT, IL — Last year, Lemont resident and 19-year-old Danny Rizzo was killed in a car accident on his way to register for college at the University of Iowa. He was a beloved son, brother and friend, and committed to "go the extra mile."

To honor Rizzo, who graduated from LHS in 2016, the Danny Rizzo Memorial Scholarship Fund was created. According to the group, the goal of the fund is to award two LHS graduating seniors with $1,000 scholarships.

Students who "go the extra mile" by showing leadership, service, kindness and friendship to others will be given preference. A fundraiser for the scholarships will be held on June 10 at Glen Eagles Golf Course.
