4th Of July Heat Advisory, Heat Index Of 105 For Illinois

A heat advisory has been issued for most of the day Wednesday, when temps will be in the 90s.

If you're spending any time outside for the Fourth of July, you will want to have air conditioning or a way to keep cool close at hand. A heat advisory began at noon and has been extended until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The advisory is in effect for most of Illinois including: Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Ogle, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee and Iroquois counties.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures on the Fourth of July will be around 90 degrees, and peak afternoon heat indices will bring that up to near 105 degrees. The combination of heat and humidity will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

The National Weather Service advises to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
